Hotel Piano is located in the heart of Szeged, right in the midst of the city’s vibrant cultural life. We believe that culture builds community, inspires, and brings people together—which is why our hotel is not just a place to stay, but also an active supporter of Szeged’s cultural scene.
We are proud to have joined forces with two local cultural initiatives: the Kultúrkavics production and the Vilmos Zsigmond International Film Festival,
Audiences always encounter a fresh and inspiring perspective in Kultúrkavics’ productions. The program lineup features rarely seen performers who represent a true cultural treat in Szeged’s already vibrant and diverse cultural scene. It was a pleasure to support them; we could easily identify with their high-quality, one-of-a-kind performances.
Another event we support is the Vilmos Zsigmond International Film Festival, which was founded by the Belvárosi Mozi and has since grown into one of the city’s leading film events, known internationally as well.
We are especially proud that we opened our doors on September 21, 2021, during the film festival—our first guests were the jury members themselves. Since then, supporting the festival has remained close to our hearts, because we believe that Vilmos Zsigmond’s legacy—his vision and the art of light and shadow—is a source of inspiration for all of us.

A special coincidence also connects us to the Belvárosi Cinema: The hotel’s original building was constructed in 1881 as a single-story residential house with a large basement, which was then renovated in 1934. The architect behind the renovation was Endre Sebestyén, who also designed the cinema’s beautiful Art Deco building. These shared roots further reinforce our belief that we have a place on the city’s cultural map—not only as a hotel, but as a committed supporter of Szeged’s arts and community life.
A házhoz emellett egy másik ismert név is kötődik: Szekszárdi Miklós, író és pedagógus szintén itt töltötte gyermekéveit. „Életem visszfényei” című könyvében több fejezetben is megidézi a Petőfi Sándor sugárúti házat, ahol élt – a gyermeki emlékek, a szegedi atmoszféra és a korabeli életképek különleges érzékenységgel rajzolódnak ki soraiban.
These human and artistic stories are what give Hotel Piano its true spirit. We believe that our guests do not merely stay with us—they become part of a living cultural heritage that continues to shape and enrich the city of Szeged.
This is how Hotel Piano becomes more than just a hotel: it becomes a living part of Szeged’s cultural scene. Experience Szeged’s inspiring cultural atmosphere for yourself—book a room with us!
