Sustainability

Sustainable Tourism

For us, sustainable tourism is not a trend, but a guiding principle. We provide hotel services that strike a balance between economic viability, environmental responsibility, and support for local communities. Procurement based on short supply chains, the involvement of local producers and artisans, and the use of seasonal ingredients all contribute to reducing our ecological footprint. In addition, we strive to optimize energy and water consumption, minimize waste, and manage resources responsibly.

Recycling

Located in the heart of Szeged, Hotel Piano is an eco-conscious hotel where style and responsibility go hand in hand. We believe that true elegance lies not in extravagance, but in preserving values. Much of our hotel’s furnishings consists of recycled or salvaged furniture that has been restored by local artisans.  Pieces sourced from flea markets, the streets, and family heirlooms bring a unique atmosphere and history to the spaces of Hotel Piano.

We Think Green

The green hotel philosophy is also reflected in the restaurant: “Don’t waste food!” signs encourage mindful consumption, and we donate leftover food to those in need. In addition, we sort our waste and involve our guests in our eco-friendly operations.

Energy Conservation

Solar energy is a central component of our energy management: our hotel is powered by solar panels, uses new, energy-efficient boilers, and features individually controlled air conditioning in every room to ensure a comfortable yet energy-efficient temperature.

Carbon Footprint

Hotel Piano’s carbon footprint for the 2024–2025 period is 31.78 metric tons of CO₂e, which amounts to just 7.40 kg of CO₂e per guest-night—we are proud to operate as one of Szeged’s most sustainable hotels.

Supporting the Local Economy

Our hotel’s commitment to sustainability is reflected in our day-to-day operations: we consciously work with local producers and artisans.  The eggs served at breakfast come from a nearby farm, we source fresh vegetables from local farmers, and the crusty bread is baked at a local bakery.& nbsp; This not only reduces transportation distances and the resulting environmental impact, but also supports the local economy. We believe that a short supply chain, personal relationships with suppliers, and the use of seasonal ingredients all contribute to quality, community, and environmental protection.
