Franciscan Monastery (19 minutes/1500 m)

The renovation of the monastery of the Szeged-Alsóváros Franciscan Church was completed in 2011, which included the establishment of a new, two-story visitor center. This church and monastery complex is, after Pannonhalma, the second largest medieval ecclesiastical building complex in Hungary, and it continues to operate in its original function to this day. Within the walls of the monastery, the visitor center offers a fascinating glimpse into the history of the complex and the Franciscan order, as well as the traditions and daily life of monasticism.
